At SGIT, the department of CSE, comprising technically-qualified staff and state-of-the art labs, continuously strives to equip the students for a career that truly clicks with the advent of computer systems, few other courses have been able to gather as much popularity as CSE. It has dedicated and specialized faculty members in different areas of Computer Science and Engineering with rich experience in academics, industry and research. The department has well equipped and spacious laboratories with modern computer equipments.
The Department's mission is to advance, evolve and enhance computer science and computing engineering fundamentals to build the intellectual capital of our research and of our students. Our endeavor is to make the CSE Department an important regional, national, and international resource center for the development of computing and IT systems and applications.   • To provide practical exposure in open source software tools.
  • To simulate wired and wireless environments using Network Simulator.
  • To provide practical exposure to the students in Linux Platform.
  • Free / Open Source Software tools can be downloaded from the web and can be customized to meet the requirements.

ENTERPRISE COMPUTING LAB

  • Identify information systems used in the functional units of an enterprise
  • Identify the list types of technologies used throughout an enterprise
  • To identify the E-commerce market sectors
  • To identify the working principle of E-retailing
  • To discuss the steps in the disaster recovery plans

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT LAB

  • To develop simple software like text editors, payroll processing system,  student management system using C, C++, Java, Visual Basic, Visual C++ and Oracle.
  • To develop mini projects using Rational Rose.
  • To develop mini projects using software development tools.
  • To provide practical exposure to the students in implementing technical concepts.
  • To develop simple web pages using HTML, Java, Java Script, J2EE, ASP and JSP.

OPERATING SYSTEMS LAB

  • To provide practical exposure in open source software.

 MULTIMEDIA LAB AND PG LAB

  • To perform image editing operations using Photoshop Tool.
  • To do simple 2D animation operations using "Flash" Tool.
  • To perform sound editing operations using sound forge software.
  • To achieve various effects using swish max software.
  • To do 3D animation using 3Dmax software.
  • To conduct simulations for various Network experiments using NS-2.

COMMUNICATION LAB

  • To make students recognize the sounds of English through Audio-Visual aids and Computer Software.
  • To help them overcome their inhibitions and self- consciousness while speaking in English and to build their confidence. The focus is on fluency rather than accuracy.
  • To help the students cultivate the habit of reading passages from the Computer monitor, thus providing them with the required facility to face computer-based competitive exams, such as GRE, TOFEL, GMAT etc.
  • To train the students to use language effectively to face interviews, group discussions, public speaking, etc.
  • To expose the students to a variety of self - instructional, learner-friendly and totally inter-active modes of language learning
