|ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS LABORATORY
Our Electric Circuits Laboratory is equipped with AC/DC power supplies, oscilloscopes; function generators, training kits for circuits, and digital millimeters and LCR meters. It is used for teaching basic concepts of engineering circuit analysis, as well as to illustrate and reinforce these concepts and provide hands-on experience to our students.
|ELECTRICAL MACHINES LABORATORY
Electrical Machines Laboratory has its purposes to educate engineer researchers and to conduct research in all aspects of electrical and electromechanical energy conversion. Its members strive to produce correct and useful results that address the needs of industry, government, and finally of the world, for efficient, highly performing systems. Various DC and AC machines have been installed to enable the budding Engineers to understand and apply electrical engineering concepts.
|MEASUREMENT AND INSTRUMENTATION LABORATORY
Our Measurement and Instrumentation Laboratory is equipped with various transducers and instrumentation trainers; resistive, capacitive and inductive measurement systems; LVDTs and strain gauges; thermocouples and RTDs; light sources and transducers; heating bars and digital thermometers. The lab also contains many basic electrical variables and time measurement equipment, such as frequency counters, digital stopwatches, digital multimeters and oscilloscopes. This lab is primarily used for teaching different types of transducers and measurement systems.
|CONTROL SYSTEM LABORATORY
The Control Systems Laboratory is equipped with a servo trainer, coupled drives. The equipment is used for teaching process calibration, open loop and closed-loop systems, and PID controllers. The lab is also equipped with digital oscilloscopes and Matlab/Simulink. This laboratory is used for introducing the fundamentals of various analog and digital control systems, PID controllers and interfacing. It is also used for the calibration and diagnostic of various control systems for testing purposes. Research on the characteristics of different types of linear and non-linear controllers and multivariable control theory can be conducted successfully here.
|POWER ELECTRONICS AND DRIVES LABORATORY
Power Electronics Laboratory is equipped with a Power Electronics Training System, which includes power MOSFETS, power thyristors, chopper/inverters control units, thyristors controllers, PID controllers, function generators, vector control drive converters, switch-mode power supplies. This lab is used for teaching the integration of power electronics converters and electric machines to design and implement motor drive systems. Tests for parameters identification of electric machines are also conducted here. It is also used for research in field-oriented control of AC machines and control of electromechanical systems. The lab is used primarily for teaching motor drives and power conversion.
|POWER SYSTEM SIMULATION LABORATORY
Our Power Systems Laboratory is equipped with MATLAB, MiPower and PSCAD software. It is used for teaching basic and advanced concepts in power system generation, transmission and distribution, and training in power quality analysis. It is also used for power system modeling and analysis and power quality for research in this area. The lab is primarily used for teaching power system basic and advance modeling; transformers, transmission lines and generation; distribution network and fault analysis; protective relays characteristics and schematics; and power quality analysis.
