Library Rules and Regulations:

  • Absolute silence must be observed in the Library
  • Staff and Students members of SGIT are only allowed to use the library resources outsiders are not allowed without permission from Principal.
  • Staff and Students should wear their ID- Card with rope in the E-Gate Register Scanner while entering and leaving the Library.
  • In case of lose of ID card, the student get a permission letter from the HOD.
  • Students should come with formal dress code as per the college rules and regulations.
  • Library Books will be issued to the Staff & Students only by Producing their own ID Card. Since ID cards are not transferable & Books will not issued by producing other members ID Card.
  • Staffs members can avail 6 books at a time for a period of Six months and return the Library Books within the Due Date.
  • A student will be issued maximum of 4 books for U.G Degree and 6 Books for P.G. Degree. The students should return the books within 14 working days from the date of issue.
  • While taking the books Staff and Students should write their Reg.No/Roll No. which is mentioned in their ID- Cards, on the due date card inserted in the book.
  • Students can renew the books only once and it should be done on or before the due date.
  • A fine amount of rupees 2 /- per day will be charged for a book if it is returned after the due date.
  • The returned books shall not be reissued to the same person on the same day of return.
  • Books are required to be presented physically at the Counter for return.
  • Borrowers are expected to return the books on or before the due date stamped on the Due Date slip.
  • Students are not allowed to carry books, bags, and other personal belongings inside the library. They should leave their belongings at the shelves provided and white sheets are allowed to take notes.
  • If any book issued to the student is found damaged; he/she will be responsible to replace the book.
  • If any book is lost by the borrower is not able to replace the book lost, within two weeks otherwise thrice the amount of the original cost will be charged. If a book is replaced, current edition of the book only be accepted.
  • Reference books and periodicals, Project Reports will not be issued under any circumstances.
  • Sub-lending or transfer of book is prohibited.
  • If any book is taken out from the shelf, it should be replaced in the original place.
  • Students should not alter the arrangement of books in the shelves. Any kind of marking, underlining etc., in the Books and Periodicals is absolutely forbidden.
  • Staff & Students can access E-Journals, National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), and Developing Library Network (DELNET) from our library. But other kind of online searching is Strictly Prohibited.
  • Students/Staffs who leave the college for any reason in the middle of the term should return the Library book and get No Due Certificate before leaving the college.
  • Staff and Students requested to avoid taking or discussion that will disturb other readers.
  • Library Chairs and tables should not alter from their position.
